Holiday Baking Part 1

Debbie Wibowo April 15, 2025

The Holiday season brings me a mixed feeling. It's a beautiful season filled with celebration and one of the occasions when families gather.

Both my parents have demised; my mother departed 12 years ago, one month before her 67th birthday, and my father passed four years ago, a few days before their wedding anniversary. So, seeing pictures being posted on social media about how families celebrate the holiday season makes my heart heavy.

Fortunately, my daughter and I started baking during the holiday season several years ago. At first, we baked to share cookies and cakes with their friends and teachers. Now, holiday baking has become our tradition, an activity that I always look forward to.

This year, we baked Orange Cranberry Cookies using Sugar Spunrun Recipe, Matcha Checkered Board Cookies from Teak & Thyme, Lemon Shortbread and of course Gingerbread Cookies.

Not sure if this is the showstopper but our gingerbread cookies showed a lot of improvement from last year. Jo even got creative making a snowman by using two round cookie cutters.

The Tilly Project: Coco

Debbie Wibowo August 28, 2024

In the heart of bustling New York City, where the streets are always alive with energy, lives a remarkably resilient and cheerful 16-year-old Shih Tzu named Mr. Coco. Despite being blind in his left eye and deaf, Coco has made NYC his playground, proving that age and physical limitations are no match for a curious spirit and a wagging tail.

Piccolo, or Pico for short, was rescued with an eye infection about 10 years ago. His family took him to the emergency vet around Memorial Day weekend for what they thought was a mild sore in his mouth.

The Tilly Project: Lola

Debbie Wibowo April 11, 2023

I had a precious opportunity to meet these two best friends. Lola, a 14-year-old border collie/lab and Dora, a 2-year-old shih tzu. Lola is very calm while Dora is always ready for an adventure. Dora is very fond of Lola, continuously looks for Lola when Lola is not nearby, and jumps right into Lola as soon as she sees Lola. These two complete each other.

The Tilly Project: Ruby

Debbie Wibowo November 8, 2022

A year ago, Ruby was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer in her front left leg. Amputation and chemotherapy were the best treatment for Ruby at the time. Ruby lost one of her legs, but the cancer was in remission.

Fall Tradition

When she was little, I often took her to Cunningham park after her dance class. We took a walk and played, and I also used the opportunity to practice my photography.

Beach

Debbie Wibowo July 29, 2021

Summer is not complete without a visit to a beach. So we ventured out to find a secluded beach that is open to the public. This particular beach in Long Island is not spectacular, but it is not bad either. What makes it interesting is that shells cover many parts of the sand lines.
